Transport Training Services is a social enterprise focusing on apprenticeships and career development training specifically for the automotive, transport and logistics sectors in Northern Ireland.
As well as delivering a range of accredited courses and bespoke training to develop talent for businesses and for automotive, transport and logistics professionals, we also provide industry-leading apprenticeships to support these sectors in securing their future workforces. Logistics industry apprenticeships include logistics operations, supply chain management, customer service, warehousing and storage, as well as team leading and management.
As the training delivery arm of the registered charity, Transport Training Board for Northern Ireland, TTS has a genuine, longstanding interest in facilitating best practice and the highest levels of compliance for the transport sector.
Our focus is on providing class-leading expertise, purpose-built facilities and modern teaching methods to deliver relevant skills for the 21st century.
The TTS-Dealership combination has worked really well for us… I would absolutely recommend to any dealership to go to TTS for an apprentice because of the amount of education that they get from both sides. They get the hands-on experience and the backup from their tutors and from whatever technical advancements are out there.
My relationship with TSS has been going now for three or four years and I will turn up to TSS from time to time to see what my apprentices are doing, especially the fourth year ones because they’re so crucial to us in our workshop. I was so impressed recently when I walked in and one of our apprentices was being taught how to use an oscilloscope which our workshop uses on a daily basis. I’ve never had a technical college in the past teach the apprentices to that level, I was so happy.
I have noticed a big change in my apprentices from they started going to tech. They are wanting to learn and get hands on.
Last year TTS helped us to recruit six aftersales advisor apprentices and four technician apprentices for our franchise dealerships in Belfast and Newtownabbey. The aftersales role is new and is our way of providing an exciting career path for young people entering the motor industry.
We have worked closely with TTS in apprenticeship recruitment and training for a number of years. TTS provide initial filtering and testing of applicants for our depots in Mallusk and Portadown and this ensures that we get the right young people into the company. TTS technical trainers also visit our workplace on a regular basis to assess apprentice competence on the job.
