Undertake accidents and incidents exercise to evaluate knowledge of general procedures. Discuss results.
Determine human, material and financial consequences of accidents.
Define traffic accident procedure, scope of legislation, legal requirements, exchanging details, insurance requirements, recording and reporting accident details.
Discuss breakdowns and crashes – vehicle recovery procedures.
Review emergencies involving fire – evacuation procedures, reporting procedures, calling for assistance, use of fire extinguishers, additional hazards involving dangerous goods and chemicals.
Demonstrate dealing with injuries – shock, bleeding, breathing difficulties, unconscious person and burns including awareness of first aid procedures.
Discuss dealing with environmental incidents – fuel / oil spills, smoke, fumes, gases, dust, litter.
Classify dealing with security incidents – theft, terrorism, illegal immigrants.
Asess RIDDOR procedures and scope of legislation. Accident book exercise.
List company procedures relating to accident/damage claims and company documentation relating to loss of goods or passenger property.
Review case studies of best practice in emergency procedures from the Passenger Transport and Road Haulage Industries.
Course Cancellation: No refund will be made for any candidate who fails to attend or does not complete the course. Cancellations or changes must be made within a specified timeframe before the course date, otherwise full fees will be charged and no refund will be made. The cancellation policy for this course is 5 working days prior to the course start date.

If you have never held a Driver CPC and have acquired rights or your Driver CPC expired before 1 February 2020, you can carry out 35 hours of periodic CPC training to get your Driver CPC.
“Acquired rights” (or “grandfather rights”) will apply to you if you held a full vocational licence to drive buses, coaches and lorries on the Driver CPC start date.
However, if you have a licence issued before January 1997 which has a D1 (not for hire or reward [nfhr]), D (nfhr) or 079 code, it does not qualify as acquired rights. You also do not have any provisional entitlement.
You’ll have acquired rights if you are a:
- Lorry driver and got your vocational licence (C, C1, C+E and C1+E) before 10 September 2009 - Bus or coach driver and got your vocational licence (D, D1, D+E and D1+E) before 10 September 2008 - this includes a restricted vocational licence D (079/ nfhr) issued after 1991 and D1 (nfhr/ 079) issued before 1997 - You must not have already completed this compliance course within the last 12 months.
