State the legal requirements regarding the transport of passengers for hire and reward.
Outline the main pieces of legislation relating to equality and disability.
Identify the general principles of customer service to the service user and what constitutes good service.
Explain customer expectations and levels of service required including barriers and obstacles to good service.
Promote the consequences of service failure and unprofessional attitude.
State passenger transport risks relating to vulnerable road users.
Analyse safe driving principles and additional precautions relating to vulnerable road users in high risk areas e.g. schools, entertainment venues, etc.
Test equality legislation relating to disability.
Describe the problems when transporting wheelchair users and people with mobility problems, including emergency procedures.
Discuss evacuation and reporting procedures for accidents and incidents relating to disabled passengers.
Note: this course includes a mandatory minimum 3.5 hours of Disability Awareness Training
Course Cancellation: No refund will be made for any candidate who fails to attend or does not complete the course. Cancellations or changes must be made within a specified timeframe before the course date, otherwise full fees will be charged and no refund will be made. It is advisable that Taxi Periodic training covers a range of subjects, but must include the mandatory Disability Awareness Course of a minimum of 3.5 hours. This course covers the mandatory hours.
By making this booking, you confirm that the course participant(s) have not already completed this module within the last 5 years.
If you have never held a Driver CPC and have acquired rights or your Driver CPC expired before 1 February 2020, you can carry out 35 hours of periodic CPC training to get your Driver CPC.
“Acquired rights” (or “grandfather rights”) will apply to you if you held a full vocational licence to drive buses, coaches and lorries on the Driver CPC start date.
However, if you have a licence issued before January 1997 which has a D1 (not for hire or reward [nfhr]), D (nfhr) or 079 code, it does not qualify as acquired rights. You also do not have any provisional entitlement.
You’ll have acquired rights if you are a:
- Lorry driver and got your vocational licence (C, C1, C+E and C1+E) before 10 September 2009 - Bus or coach driver and got your vocational licence (D, D1, D+E and D1+E) before 10 September 2008 - this includes a restricted vocational licence D (079/ nfhr) issued after 1991 and D1 (nfhr/ 079) issued before 1997 - You must not have already completed this compliance course within the last 12 months.
