A Banksman is an operative trained to assist vehicle movements on or around site. The TTS course covers both hand signalling for staff directing vehicles and practical instruction and assessment for those drivers being directed.
The training has two objectives:
Banksman training ensures that an organisation meets its legal requirements and reduces the risk of costly accidents when carrying out reversing manoeuvres. It is regarded as industry best practice for maintaining a safe working environment and reduces the risk of injury or vehicle downtime when drivers are engaging in vehicle manoeuvres.
Banksman training is suitable for Drivers / Signalmen / Reversing Assistants who are involved with the movement of vehicles within a site.
This could be anyone that regularly drivers a large goods vehicle (either rigid or articulated) and is involved in manoeuvring, loading and unloading vehicles or anyone that is responsible for directing drivers within a site.
Participants of this course will learn how to give and understand non-verbal directions.
Banksman training is usually something that’s provided by your employer in the transport industry, however, drivers working through an agency, for example, might find Banksman training to be beneficial when applying for jobs because it demonstrates competency and is evidence of proactive health and safety awareness.
Our Banksman training course teaches delegates how to guide large goods vehicles (either rigid or articulated), using the universally recognised HSE approved code of signals.
